REQUIRED DOCUMENTS AND FEE TO SEND TO THE OFFICE OF LT. GOVERNOR:
Please double check that your Alaska Notary Commission Application and notary bond have been properly completed according to the instructions. Missing and/or incomplete forms and fees - and sending photocopies of documents instead of originals - will delay the processing of your application. The required paperwork MUST include the following:
1) Your original Alaska Notary Commission Application (completed correctly according to the instructions).
2) Your original $1,000 Alaska notary bond provided by Alaska Notary "Discount" Association.
3) $40.00 application fee.
Your application fee can be in the form of a check or money order made payable to "State of Alaska" or you may choose to pay with Visa or MasterCard. ADDRESS CHANGE:
Required. A notary public must notify the Lieutenant Governor’s Office within 30 days after the change of a mailing address or physical address by submitting a $5.00 filing fee and a written notification provided by such office.

NAME CHANGE:
Required. A notary public must notify the Lieutenant Governor’s Office within 30 days after the name change by submitting a $5.00 filing fee and a written notification provided by such office. The notary reporting a name change must also provide a written notification to the surety where the notary is bonded. The notary must purchase new seal reflecting the name change.

STATE OF ALASKA NOTARY REQUIREMENTS
ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Age: 18 years.
Resident of Alaska: Be a legal resident of Alaska, a United States citizen or a permanent resident alien.
Education/Testing: None required.
Felony Convictions: Not have been convicted of a felony within 10 years and not have had a prior notary commission revoked in the past 10 years.
PROVISIONS
Term: 4 years. Limited Governmental commissions are open ended and are active as long as the notary remains employed by the governmental entity for whom he/she was working when he/she obtained its commission.
Bond Requirement: A $1,000 notary bond is required for new and renewing notaries.
Seal Requirement: Embosser or rubber inked stamp required.
Jurisdiction: Statewide.
State Filing Fee: A $40.00 filing fee is required for new and renewal notary applications. An applicant for a limited governmental notary public commission who is employed by a governmental agency may not be required to pay an application fee.
Recording Journal: None required. The Secretary of State and Alaska Notary "Discount" Association strongly recommends to keep a notary journal to record the signer's name, signature, identification, date and other pertinent information that a Alaska notary performs.

- The applicant must be a resident of Alaska.
- The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
- The applicant must reside legally in the United States.
- The applicant have not been convicted or incarcerated for any felony in the 10-year period before your commission takes effect.
- The applicant cannot have a previous Notary commission revoked for notarial misconduct in the preceding 10-year period.
Alaska notaries public are appointed for a commission term of four years. If you wish to continue to be a notary in the state of Alaska after four years, you must renew your notary appointment.
