STATE REQUIREMENTS

ELIGIBILITY

Be 18 years of age or olderBe of good moral character and integrity.

Live or work in the state of Maryland.

Be a resident of the senatorial district from which appointed.


PROVISIONS 

Non-Residents: Non-residents must be residents of a state that also allows Maryland residents working in that state to serve as notaries public.

Bond: None required.

Errors & Omissions Insurance: Optional.

Filing Fee: A $20 filing fee is required for new and renewal notary applications.

Term: 4 years.

Jurisdiction: Statewide.  

Renewal: Two months before the commission expires, a renewal will be sent to the address on file.  

Notary Seal: Required. Embosser or rubber-inked stamp.

Record Book: Required.
