STEP 2 - ORDER YOU LOW COST NEW OR RENEWAL NOTARY BOND PACKAGE FROM $50.00

Once you have completed your New Mexico notary public application you can now order your notary bond. STEP 3 - MAIL YOUR ITEMS TO THE SECREATRY OF STATE'S OFFICE.

Once you receive your completed notary bond from us you are to mail your notary bond, completed New Mexico notary application and a check or money order in the amount of $20.00 made payable to the Secretary of State to the following address:

If and when the application is accepted, the Governor will appoint you as a New Mexico notary public for a term of 4 years. You MAY NOT perform notarial acts until you receive your certificate of appointment from the office of the Secretary of State.

STATE OF NEW MEXICO NOTARY REQUIREMENTS

ELIGIBILITY

Be 18 years old or older.

Be a resident of the State of New Mexico.

Read and write the English language.

Not have plead guility or nolo contendere to a felony or have been convicted of a felony.

Not have had a notary commission revoked during the past five years. 


PROVISIONS

Non-Residents: Not permitted.

Bond: A 10,000 bond is required for new or renewing notaries.

Errors & Omissions Insurance: Optional. Notary Service and Bonding Agency, Inc. strongly recommends that New Mexico notaries insure themselves against claims of negligence.

Filing Fee: A $20 state filing fee is required for new and renewal notary applications.

Term: 4 years.

Jurisdiction: Statewide.

Renewal: A notary may apply 30 days before expiration of the current commission by submitting a renewal notary public application.

Notary Seal: Required. A embosser or rubber inked stamp.

Education/Testing: None required.

Record Journal: Recommended by the Secretary of State and by Notary Service and Bonding Agency, Inc. to keep a notary journal to record the signer's name, signature, identification, date and other pertinent information that a New Mexico notary performs.
