STEP 2 - SUBMIT YOUR NOTARY BOND PACKAGE ORDER FORM AND WE WILL PROCESS YOUR NOTARY BOND.
Once we receive your order online, by fax or mail we will process your notary bond package. Your notary bond and supplies will be mailed directly to you.
Once you receive your notary bond, supplies and official stamp seal from our office you MUST proceed to STEP 3.
STEP 3 - DOWNLOAD AND COMPLETE THE WISCONSIN NOTARY PUBLIC APPLICATION.
Download and complete the notary public application according to the detailed instructions provided.

As the application states you must complete and submit the following to the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions:
1) Notary public application
2) Notary bond form
3) Oath of Office form
4) Certificate of letter from step 11 on the application
5) $20.00 filing fee made payable to the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions
Commissions are issued every Wednesday. Effective January 1, 2005, applications for reappointment of commission are processed the Wednesday after receipt. Any time remaining from a previous commission term lapses whenever a new commission is issued. Remember, you may not perform notarial acts until notified by this office that your commission has been issued, or reissued in the case of a reappointment. A commission certificate will be sent to the mailing address indicated on your application.
STEP 4 - WAIT FOR THE STATE TO SEND YOU A COMMISSION CERTIFICATE.
A commission certificate from the state will be sent to the mailing address indicated on the notary public application. Once you have received the commission certificate notifying you of your appointment you are authorized to begin your notarial duties.

STATE OF WISCONSIN REQUIREMENTS
ELIGIBILITY
Be 18 years old or older.
Be a legal resident of the United States.
Have an equivalent of an 8th grade education.
Be familiar with the duties and responsibilities of a notary public.
Not have an unacceptable arrest.
Not have been convicted in state or federal court of a felony, or convicted of a misdemeanor involving a violation of the public trust unless there is proof of a pardon.
PROVISIONS
Non-Residents: Non-residents may apply.
Bond: A 500 bond is required for new or renewing notaries who are non-attorneys. No bond is required for notaries who are attorneys.
Errors & Omissions Insurance: Optional. Wisconsin Notary "Discount" Association Co. strongly recommends that Wisconsin notaries insure themselves against claims of negligence.
Filing Fee: A $20 state filing fee is required for new and renewal notary applications. A $50 state filing fee is required for a lifetime commission.
Term: 4 years. Lifetime for notaries who are attorneys.
Jurisdiction: Statewide.
Renewal: A notary may apply 30 days before expiration of the current commission by submitting the notary public application.
Notary Seal: Required. A embosser or rubber inked stamp.
Education/Testing: None required.
Record Journal: Recommended by the Secretary of State and by Wisconsin Notary "Discount" Association Co.
