Eligibility: 
Be 18 years of age or older.
Be a legal resident of the State of Texas.
You must disclose a finding of guilt for any crime (other than a class C Misdemeanor) from any jurisdiction regardless whether the case has been appealed. (A criminal conviction is NOT an automatic denial of notary commission.)
If you are a non-resident living in an adjoining state and have qualified as a Texas escrow agent, you are eligible for appointment as a Texas notary.

Notary Bond
Required. A bond in the amount of $10,000 is required for new and renewing notaries public.
Errors & Omissions Insurance
Optional. Notary Association of Texas, Inc. strongly recommends that Texas notaries insure themselves against claims of negligence.
Notary Stamp/Notary Seal
Required. A embosser or rubber inked stamp.
Notary Public Recording Journal
Required. Texas notaries are required to maintain a notary record book or journal.
State Filing Fee
A $21 filing fee is required for new and renewal notary applications.

None required.

Notary Commission Renewal
A notary public may apply 90 days before the commission expiration date by completing a renewal application form.

Our service will upload your notary public application form to the Texas Secretary of State's office electronically.

Once the Texas Secretary of State's office receives your notary public application form from us the Texas Secretary of State will email you directly with instructions on how to create an online account with the Texas Secretary of State. 

AS OF JANUARY 21, 2025, YOU MUST NOW CREATE AN ONLINE ACCOUNT TO COMPLETE YOUR NOTARY COMMISSION! 

Once you have created your online account, follow the instructions given to you by the Texas Secretary of State’s email to electronically sign your notary application form.

 

Once your notary pubic application form is signed and approved, the Texas Secretary of State will email your notary public certificate directly to you.

Our service will also be notified by the Texas Secretary of State of your signed and approved notary public application form. Now that you are approved we will immediately order your new official notary stamp. 

NOTE: Please allow up to 3 business days for your stamp(s) to be personalized and manufactured. Once complete the stamp(s) will be mailed directly to you.
